Community

In conducting our business, above all, we want to be a good neighbor.

We aim to manage the social impacts of our activity and respond to any irregularities, which is why cooperation with local communities is so important to us.

We take full responsibility for the places where we work and for the people involved in producing our products.

Educational trail

The area of the reclaimed excavation site on Budowlanych Street has gained a new function. We have created an educational trail there because we believe that the need for ecological education is obvious today, and every action in this area fits into the social needs of our region.

Walking the educational trail, one can admire the natural values of our region. Along the route, there are information boards, developed in cooperation with the Department of Biosystematics at the University of Opole, with interesting descriptions and beautiful illustrations of plants and animals living in the area of the old excavation site.
and animals.

In the area of the protective belt on the crown of the excavation and along the incline on the educational trail, there are about 1,500 trees and shrubs. These plants form a natural barrier separating the natural part from the urban zone. An additional attraction for geology enthusiasts is a viewpoint from which one can see the geological profile of the deposit revealing the changes that have occurred over the centuries.

Along the trail, there is also a place for rest and recreation. On a beautiful lawn covering 0.42 ha, benches and a designated area for a bonfire have been set up, creating an ideal place for organizing picnics and various kinds of games for children and youth.

Walking the trail, it's hard to believe that we are in the city center, moreover, on post-mining land. The proximity of nature and the unique beauty of this place allow one to take a break from the urban noise and hustle.

The created area shows how we can seamlessly combine industrial activity with natural values.

The ODRA Cement Plant allows organized groups to visit the reclaimed ODRA I area.

Culture and art

For many years, we have been promoting events and projects in the field of culture and art.

We help young artists realize the most valuable projects in the field of visual arts, financially supporting competitions organized by the Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole. Being a sponsor of the annually organized "Aneks" competition, we reward artists associated with Opole and the Opole region. Thanks to their work, we can look at the world from a different perspective and appreciate its beauty.

We are extremely pleased that we could show the industrial beauty of our plant through the lenses of young photography enthusiasts. The workshops held on our premises under the theme "It's US who create the world" were conducted under the guidance of well-known practitioners Piotr Małecki, press photographer (including for the New York Times), director, cinematographer, and producer of documentary films, and Marcin Jamkowski, journalist, filmmaker, and photographer, former editor-in-chief of National Geographic Poland.

Thinking of the residents of Opole, the ODRA Cement Plant funded, on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city's existence, a new bust of Juno – a symbol of the cement basin. The monument was erected in the Nadodrze Park.

The sculpture depicting the beauty of the Greek goddess of fertility was originally created to promote the Opole cement plant of Friedrich Grundmann at the World Exhibition of Economic Achievements Expo in Paris in 1867. Awarded a prize, it returned to Opole, unfortunately, it did not survive World War II.

The bust of the goddess Juno was made by graduates of the Institute of Art at the University of Opole, Ms. Ewa Dębicka and Mr. Bartosz Mazik, under the supervision of Professor Marian Molenda.

Sport

Convinced of the irreplaceable role of sport, we believe that sports clubs play a significant social role. Sport is an effective educational and health-promoting tool. It is an important instrument for promoting fair play attitudes.

Without proper financial support, the activities of sports clubs are significantly hindered. Feeling socially responsible through long-term financial support, we help meet the challenges these organizations face.

Support from the ODRA Cement Plant is received by:

  • the handball team KPR Gwardia Opole (Bronze Medalist of the Superliga 2019),
  • Municipal Sports Club from Kluczbork.
