As a result of many years of cooperation between the Cement Plant and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, especially the Department of Building Materials Engineering of the Opole University of Technology, which was the executor of many research works related to concrete technology using cement from the "ODRA" Cement Plant, was the award ceremony in 2017 by the President of the "ODRA" Cement Plant S.A. to graduates who promote the use of concrete in construction in their thesis. The competition aimed to create an additional incentive for undertaking increasingly interesting topics related to cement and concrete in thesis works in the field of building materials engineering, materials physics, and modern applications of concrete in architecture. The competition committee, consisting of four faculty professors and a representative of the "ODRA" Cement Plant S.A., selected three winners.

The winner of the first prize additionally received from the president of the Cement Plant - Wojciech Putra "Concrete Diamond" prepared by the Cement Plant especially for this ceremony.
